The long weekend will begin any day now. This year it falls exceptionally, because its start will be on Monday. So if we take one day off we can rest for as many as 5 days, while if we take 3 days off, we can extend the rest to 9 days! Sounds great, right?
Regardless of which variant you choose, we have prepared a plan for your stay in Cracow. However, we warn you... Start planning your trip by booking accommodation. During this period, many aparthotels and hotels are busy. The earlier you book your stay, the more attractive apartment you will get. What should you follow when choosing accommodation for such a trip? In addition to the standard, quality of service, be sure to pay attention to the location of the property. A long weekend is a time when there is a lot going on in Krakow. Don't waste your time commuting. The optimal solution will be to choose accommodation near the main square in Krakow. If you have already booked a stay, suggestions for spending time with friends, family we have already prepared for you. Ready?
Day 1:
Morning: We'll start with a visit to Wawel Castle, a beautiful fortress that was the royal residence for many centuries. Here you can see Wawel Cathedral and the Castle, which are among the most important monuments in Poland. You should also enter the armory and visit the temporary exhibitions. There is a fee to enter Wawel Castle. It's also a good idea to book tickets in advance online.
Afternoon: From Wawel Castle we can go to the city center along the beautiful historic Kanonicza Street, see the Cloth Hall, the Main Square, the tiny St. Adalbert's Church and many other monuments located in the Old Town. The Main Square has many cafes and restaurants where you can relax and eat something delicious.
Evening: In the evening, we suggest visiting the Kazimierz district, where you can feel the atmosphere of Jewish culture. In Kazimierz there are numerous cafes, restaurants and bars where you can try local food and drinks.
Day 2:
Morning: For the second day, we recommend the National Museum in Cracow, which is one of the largest museums in Poland. There you can see works of art from different eras and from different parts of the world.
Afternoon: We encourage you to take a walk in the Planty Park, which is the city gardens located around the Old Town. The Planty is a great place to relax, contemplate previously viewed works of art, and even have a picnic.
Evening: we suggest spending the evening at a concert at the Krakow Philharmonic. Concerts are organized practically every day and the repertoire is rich so it is worth checking the program in advance and choosing an interesting item.
Day 3:
Morning: On the third day, we encourage you to visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, which is located about 15 km from Krakow. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Poland. In the mine you can see underground passages, salt chambers and numerous sculptures in salt.
Afternoon: An interesting option is a walk in the Podgórze district, which is one of the oldest parts of Krakow. Podgórze is a great place for a quiet wander due to its narrow streets, tenement houses and many historic churches. If your legs refuse to cooperate, it's worth sitting on one of the barges moored on the Vistula River, drinking coffee or tasting local dishes while admiring the city's panorama from the perspective of the river.
Evening: For the evening, we suggest going to a restaurant in the Old Town or Kazimierz district to try traditional Polish dishes such as pierogi, kielbasa or schabowy. You can also choose establishments that serve dishes from other parts of the world. There are many restaurants in Krakow that serve delicious food, but it's worth making a reservation a little earlier.
